Hamburg, 11 March 2025
VisioPlan Solutions GmbH, a start-up from Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), was honoured with the special start-up prize in the ‘Auf IT gebaut 2025’. The founding team, consisting of Kevin Fechner, Albert Lößner, Mathias Worm and Maximilian Schmidt, is developing an innovative solution for digital construction planning that supports private property developers in particular.
Most people who have already built or remodelled a property know the problem: the effects of the design of their floor plan often only really become apparent when the property is in use. Planning errors then either have to be accepted or corrected at great expense. This is precisely where VisioPlan comes in: The team has set itself the goal of offering user-friendly design planning solutions for private developers who value customised room concepts. With the help of virtual reality (VR), they overcome the frequent lack of imagination and enable a realistic sense of space. This immersive test use creates optimised floor plans before construction begins, saving money, time and nerves.
VisioPlan has already convinced the advisors of the EXIST start-up grant with this idea. The team also took part in the incubation programme in the Hamburg crew of the Startup Port @TUHH, where they worked specifically on the further development of their business model.
The concept is based on a full-service approach that largely automates time-consuming process steps. Clients can simply upload their floor plans and experience them in an immersive VR environment within a very short space of time. A supplementary web app also facilitates decentralised coordination between the parties involved and enables comments to be made on building components. This can reduce face-to-face meetings by up to 50 per cent and make planning processes much more efficient.
Sustainability also plays a key role: by dispensing with physical show houses, VisioPlan helps to reduce CO₂ emissions and resources.
Startup Port @TUHH has actively supported VisioPlan along the way. The team is now working on making VR technology even more accessible and intuitive for construction planning and also convincing the target group of private builders of its solution.
