Information and Counseling Services for Prospective Students

The TUHH stages several information events each year for prospective students. Each event has a different main focus and alignment.

Please note, that all our events will be held in GERMAN.

 

Student Round up

For prospective students of Bachelor's degree programs: You can ask questions on general topics related to studying at the TUHH. You also have the opportunity to talk to TUHH students. (Please expand)
  • Study choice, study decision

  • Application and start of studies

  • Study preparation and study requirements

  • Study conditions and course of study

  • Admission to university without a general higher education entrance qualification

  • As well as all other questions and topics that are important to you.
           

     Please note that it is unfortunatly not possible for parents or teachers of prospective students to take part in the prospective student round table.
    There are separate information and advice services for interested parents as part of our taster course (“Parent Talk”), as part of the “Update Parents” event organized by the Federal Employment Agency and at the support group for parents, teachers and other people willing to help (see below)

The next Taster Days will take place on 25th of February 2025.

We would like to give you a foretaste of TUHH. Are you interested to find out what industrial engineers or civil engineers are doing? What expertise they need, in which companies they work and what their work routine looks like? Would you like to have interesting insights in companies in industry, aviation or the technology sector? TUHH4u provides answers to this question. Our aim is to enable you to make an informed decision about which course to enrol for by giving you some insights into everyday student life before you commence your studies, and by telling you about the requirements and opportunities for study at the TUHH.

Tips for choosing a study program

You can find helpful tips on choosing a course of study and a career on the website of the Employment Agency.

The Higher Education Compass of the German Rectors' Conference provides an overview of the study options at German universities as well as help in choosing a course of study.

Information on the necessary prior knowledge and prerequisites in mathematics for engineering studies is available as part of the MINTFIT.HAMBURG test, which is available free of charge online.

Within the framework of the online mathematics preperation course OMB+, which is available free of charge online, and the video-based interactive pre-courses ViaMINT (in German only) which are available free of charge online, you can refresh your mathematics knowledge and prepare specifically for the mathematics requirements of a degree course in engineering.

Tips for parents

You can find out how you can constructively accompany and support your child in their choice of studies and career on the following website of the Federal Employment Agency.

The TUHH offers the Parent Talk, a discussion group for parents of prospective students, as part of the event "Taster Days". There, a student advisor answers questions about the choice of study and university, career prospects and other topics.

The Federal Employment Agency in Hamburg, with the participation of the TUHH, informs prospective high school graduates from Hamburg schools and their parents once a year at the "Update Parents" event about training and study opportunities as well as related information and counselling services.

To take part in our online-events you will need:

  • Internet connection - wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
  • Speakers and microphone - built-in or as a USB plug-in or wireless with Bluetooth.
  • Optionally recommended: Webcam or HD webcam - built-in or as USB plug-in
