Job search

Are you looking for an internship, a working student job or to start your career?

A successful application depends on many factors. First and foremost, the job you want to apply for must fit your profile as best as possible and the company must match your personal ideas of a potential employer. The examination of your own abilities and needs as well as the job search are therefore decisive steps. But there are also many things to consider in all other application steps:

Self-reflection and market research

Before you can successfully present yourself to a company, you need to come to terms with your own abilities and ideas, i.e.: Who am I and which job suits me?

You should ask yourself the following questions:

  • Where do my skills and strengths lie? Coaching, Wie will ich arbeiten und leben?
  • One possibility is the CAPTain personnel test from CNT, which TUHH students can use free of charge.
  • What kind of company suits me? WUPZM
  • What is my motivation to work in a certain company or job?

There are several research avenues for the job search:

Job portals

  • Notices in the glass boxes

These are located in the east wing of building A, second floor, by the student study rooms. Here we always post current offers for internships, thesis and working student positions. In addition, you will find posters from job fairs and other company contact events, as well as information about current Career Center workshops.

For companies: If you would like to offer internships, thesis or working student positions, simply send a PDF document to career.service(at)tuhh(dot)de.

Hamburg Business Clusters

Below you will find a compilation of business clusters of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. The clusters are associations of the respective industries, there are lists of the affiliated member companies and you will find partly also industry-specific job exchanges:

Expert talks and networking

  • Career Center events (e.g., mock Interview with campanies, "Career paths")
  • Alumni events / networking events, e.g. Alumni & Career Talk
  • Job fairs, e.g. Career Forum, stellenwerk job fair
  • Trade fairs
  • Company contact events and competitions
  • Expert talks
  • Business networks such as Linkedin or Xing
  • social networks

Network! Not all companies can be found on the major job boards. So it is important to go other ways to get to know companies.
