Vilisto wins Hamburg Innovation Award 2024 in the START category

Hamburg, 17. September 2024

Vilisto was honoured with the Hamburg Innovation Award 2024 in the START category for its pioneering solution in digital heat management, which enables significant energy savings through artificial intelligence and self-learning thermostats.

Founded in 2016 at Hamburg University of Technology, the start-up impressed the jury with its advanced solution for digital heat management in commercial buildings. The innovative, self-learning thermostats from vilisto GmbH rely on artificial intelligence and room occupancy detection to efficiently optimise heating processes and enable significant energy savings. This technology epitomises vilisto's commitment to a sustainable future and demonstrates how innovation and technological progress can enable effortless energy savings while taking into account all user needs.

Hamburg Innovation Awards

The Hamburg Innovation Awards are traditionally presented as part of the Hamburg Innovation Summit. In the IDEA category, budding entrepreneurs from the Hamburg metropolitan region have the opportunity to have their business idea scrutinised and evaluated by experts. The START category honours young companies that have been in existence for a maximum of ten years, while the GROWTH category recognises the outstanding achievements of established companies. The awards were presented by Science Senator Katharina Fegebank, who emphasised the importance of start-ups and innovation for Hamburg in her speech.

Innovative solution for digital heat management

The idea for vilisto was developed at Hamburg University of Technology by founders Christoph Berger, Lasse Stehnken and Christian Brase. They recognised the inefficiency of heating systems in non-residential buildings and, with the support of the start-up centre Startup Port @TUHH, developed a prototype that uses smart thermostats and self-learning algorithms to save energy and CO2. Today, vilisto GmbH employs an international team of around 90 people and already serves over 300 customers.
