Applicants should hold a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a Data Science programm - or an equivalent programm with sufficiently strong background in computer science and mathematics - and must show a very good previous academic performance as well as sufficient proficiency in English.

3. Recommended preparatory test

To estimate if you have the necessary knowledge to successfully finish your Data Science Master studies at Hamburg University of Technology, we strongly recommend taking the preparatory MINTFIT test. The test contains questions from five different categories specifically built for the purposes of this program: 1. Databases / Big Data, 2. Mathematical Preliminaries for Machine Learning, 3. Elements of Machine Learning, 4. Probability and Statistics, and 5. Programming.

Note: You can take the tests anonymously, i.e., just select “Anonymous – without login” on the MINTFIT landing page. The results are not forwarded to the selection committee, but if you have trouble with one or more of the categories, you may not have the necessary theoretical and technical skill set needed to be successful. The knowledge required in the test is the absolute minimum to successfully study the Master's program in Data Science at Hamburg University of Technology.
