Step by step: Applying for a Bachelor's Program

It is possible to apply for a Bachelor's degree course at the TUHH in the winter semester.

For the winter semester starting in October, the application period is June 1 to July 15 of the same year.

The application takes place online.

Step 1: Registration with Hochschulstart

• You register with the online portal hochschulstart.de
• You will receive your applicant ID (BID) and your applicant authentication number (BAN).

Step 2: Preparation of the application documents

Please have the following information at hand:

Applicants with a German university entrance qualification:

• Abitur grade/grade of the university entrance qualification
• Math grades of the last four school semesters
• English language certificate (if required)

Please note: If you have an entrance certificate for a German university of applied science (Fachhochschulreife), you are not entitled to study at TUHH.

Applicants with an international (non-German) university entrance qualification must upload the following documents:

If the documents are not issued in German or English, German or English translations by a sworn translator must also be submitted. The translations alone are not sufficient!

• School leaving certificate including overview of grades
• Proof of university entrance examination (if applicable)
• Overview of subjects and grades of your previous studies and the degree certificate (if applicable)
• Certificate of passing the assessment test of a German Studienkolleg and the corresponding school report from your home country (if applicable)
• Proof of sufficient knowledge of German (if required)
• Proof of sufficient knowledge of English (if required)
• APS certificate (only for applicants with a school or university degree from China, India or Vietnam, regardless of their nationality)
• Citizens of the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway: Proof of math grades from the last four school semesters
• Result of the TestAS (not mandatory for an application to the TUHH!)

Step 3: Online application in the TUNE portal

• You register on the TUHH's TUNE application portal
• There you enter the BID, BAN from hochschulstart.de and your grades.
• You can apply for up to 2 Bachelor's degree programs at the TUHH

Step 4: Check application status

• The TUHH will only communicate with you via the TUNE portal.
• You must check the status of your application in the TUNE portal regularly.
• Missed deadlines caused by not checking your application status are your own responsibility!

Step 5: Receive an offer of admission

• You will only receive an offer of admission to a Bachelor's program online via hochschulstart.de! Please also check your status there regularly!

• As soon as you have accepted the admission offer via hochschulstart.de, you can enrol online in the TUNE portal.
