  Fellow students and friends are usually glad to assist you in proofreading your texts or works. By providing the same assistance to them, you cannot only return the favor, but you can also enhance your own academic reading and writing skills.
  

• Comprehensive teaching of general basic skills for academic work, including writing
  
  The university provides special information, seminars and workshops covering these issues, e.g. under the “FinishING” programme of the Student Counseling Center and through the university library.
  

• Academic and subject-related counseling
  
  Your contact persons regarding academic and subject-related issues are the respective lecturers or the academic supervisors of your thesis.
  

• Information on guidelines for academic working and writing according to the specific criteria of particular institutes
  
  For information on the specific requirements such as number of pages, citation and layout standards etc., please refer to your academic supervisor or to the respective institute.
  

• Clarification of formalities regarding the final thesis
  
  The relevant information is available at the examinations office or here.
  

• Consultation on application documents
  
  Qualified counseling on the creation of application documents is provided by the TUHH Career Center, which offers special seminars as well as application file checks on a regular basis.
  

• Ghostwriting
  
  Writing consultation provided by the Student Counseling Center is carried out according to the principle of helping students help themselves. The actual writing must always be performed by you. Please also make sure that you observe the official regulations regarding independent authorship and usage of sources and aids as specified in the respective examination regulations.
  

• Translation
  
  Regarding this you may e.g. refer to native speakers among your fellow students and friends or contact professional translators.
