Applications are open until September 15 for the Master's program in International Management and Engineering at TU Hamburg.

Young scientists impress

Olin Poster Prize 2024 awarded at the TU Hamburg

At the end of the module ‘Process and Plant Engineering I’ at the Hamburg University of Technology, the poster prize was awarded for the 8th time in cooperation with the company Olin to students of the Bachelor's degree programmes in Process Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering and General Engineering Science. This year, the 8th Olin Poster Prize was won by TU students Felix Takata, Janina Nguyen, Jelisa Bonsen, Jenny Nguyen and Tabea Wachter. They impressed the jury with their outstanding scientific poster on the design of a process engineering system and were each awarded prize money of 250 euros by sponsor Olin.

Focus on process development: students develop practical solutions

The learning objective of the course is to apply specialist expertise, transfer knowledge and gain a holistic understanding of process engineering processes. By creating a scientific poster, students will deepen, abstract and better understand individual content from lectures and exercises. As part of the semester-long group project, students take on a wide range of tasks in the field of process development, including the creation of flow diagrams, balancing, heat integration and cost accounting. At the end of the semester, the students present their results at a poster party at which the best work is honoured.

The award was presented by Christian Tewinkel, Improvement Engineer at sponsor Olin: ‘The technical expertise to develop an industrial process and the ability to coordinate a team project are essential foundations for working as an engineer. The students from TU Hamburg were able to successfully demonstrate these skills in the poster presentation.’
