Hamburg University of Technology is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Stephan Freyer has been awarded the title of professor in accordance with Section 17 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act.
The title is a special distinction that is only awarded for outstanding achievements comparable to those of a regularly appointed professor. Candidates often have a high level of practical experience, which complements their teaching in an ideal way. This is also the case with Prof. Freyer, who brings his expertise as Director of Enzyme E2E Process Transfer at the BASF Group to the table.
His practical insights are a valuable resource for students, to whom he imparts his expertise in the courses “Bioprocess Development in Industrial Practice” and “Industrial Bioprocess Engineering.”
TU President Andreas Timm-Giel says: “Prof. Freyer's lectures not only deepen students' understanding of strategies in industrial bioprocess development, but also offer practical learning opportunities, especially during excursions to BASF. This practical experience is a highlight of the master's program and enriches the course of study.”
Prof. Dr. Freyer is one of six new §17 professors who have been awarded the title at TU Hamburg in the 2024/2025 winter semester.
