Admission requires

1. a recognized bachelor's degree or equivalent university degree in a course of study of at least 6 semesters, which must be a fundamental engineering science course or a natural science course.
   The institution issuing the bachelor’s degree must be an internationally recognized academic institution.
2. sufficient knowledge of the fundamental science and engineering subjects of physics, chemistry and mathematics, materials science, fundamentals of engineering (mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical engineering), and programming. In the just-mentioned subjects, the total credits of the bachelor's program should amount to 100 ECTS for European courses.  For applicants from other countries then Germany, those same subjects must cover at least 50% of the subject-specific curriculum in their bachelor course.
3. basic education in materials science.

The national and international academic rankings of the institution and the student's academic performance will enter the decision on admissibility.
