Enhanced Data Capture for 3D Printing: Low-Code Interface Project

Description of the company

amsight GmbH, a spin-off from the renowned Fraunhofer IAPT, revolutionizes Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) with cutting-edge software that streamlines data management from powder to finished product.

Situation

The 3D Printing industry is challenged by inefficient data capture during the 3D printing process, leading to untapped potential in production optimization.

Problem

The current data collection process is characterized by manual data collection processes. Excel tables and PDF documents have to be entered. The data capture process is constantly changing, so it must be easily and individually adapted at all times. Users should therefore be able to adapt the data capture process without any programming knowledge. Therefore, the approach of a low-code interface should be chosen.

Aims of the project

Development of a user-friendly low-code interface that allows the data acquisition of raw data and further process steps to be set up individually so that users can generate  workflows for the data acquisition process themselves without programming knowledge. A possible report module would also be desirable.

Scopes

  • Research and comparison of various low-code approaches,
  • selection of the best method,
  • and prototype development of the chosen interface.

Target group (students)

Students or groups with an interest in software development, particularly those studying computer science or engineering. Skills in low-code development and programming languages (TypeScripT Dotnet Core, python) C-sharp are preferable. An innovative mindset, and a passion for AM technology are essential.
