PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Initial situation
The aviation industry as well as other industries are faced towards fundamental changes regarding the use of public transport and the upcoming needs and expectations for future travel experiences.
The generation Alpha (born 2010-2025) is growing into and operating in an increasingly volatile world. This generation is naturally using every kind of digital media and hence is able to set new targets, go beyond the current thinking and therefore plays a major role in challenging the current capabilities.
Problem
AIRBUS is transforming its next products and services to suit this generation. Some of the big changes are Connectivity on PAX & Products perimeter, “plug’n’play” solutions for the Cabin enabling adaptation to increasingly personalized experiences and last but not least sustainability aspects.
How does this translate to the future of flying, especially for the Cabin & Cargo context?
Aims of the project
We seek ideas and concepts in each field to get inspiration for what might be valuable beyond the status. Identify next gen technologies and bring them into context. Explain conceptually why and how they might challenge the status quo and how it shall be translated into new cabin and cargo concepts, arrangements and services.
Scopes
Identify the needs and expectations of the flying generation who completely grew up in the 21. century (gen Alpha) towards Cabin and Cargo focusing on 3 areas:
Connectivity. How to bring new tech into AC: Reconfiguration and Personalisation. Plug’n’Play solutions, Sustainability. Lightweight, Materials and Manufacturing.
Target group (students)
This project is particularly suitable for students of Aviation Engineering, cognitive computer science, applied social studies and society. However, other disciplines are also very welcome.
