The members cultivate academic dialogue with each other as well as exchanges with research and cultural institutions in Germany and abroad. Overall, the academy comprises about 280 full members and nearly 130 corresponding members. The Academy of Sciences and the Arts of Nordrhein-Westfalen has accepted ten new members who, according to the Academy, have exceptional expertise in their specialist areas. "Admission to the Academy is a great privilege and a special recognition of our research achievements in the field of building informatics," says Professor Smarsly. Professor Smarsly's research work is dedicated to the digitalisation of the construction in civil engineering.
