General information for using the Computer Pools (Linux):
The Linux pool is to be used according to its purpose only for teaching and research, education and science.
The PC-workstations (WSs) are operated under the RedHat-Linux operating system. Unlike personal computers (PC) the WSs have been developed for teamworking. Under UNIX several users working on different tasks simultaneously (multiuser, multitasking) at different places in the world is possible. Switching off the WSs is therefore forbidden.
Please make use of the online information of the Rechenzentrums. Before going for help and asking, read the Tips and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) or search the keyword list. For a person in charge in case of problems, opening hours, room occupation, etc. refer to Organization.
