Server virtualization in the data center under VMware vSphere
We have been using VMware to virtualize servers in our data center since 2007. The system currently consists of ten PowerEdge R760 servers from Dell. The individual servers are equipped with 1.1 TiB of main memory. Each server is connected to the data center's central SAN system with 32 Gbit FC.
We can currently provide virtual servers with various operating systems: Windows Server 2019, Debian 12.x and 11.x, Redhat Enterprise Linux 9.x and 8.x as well as Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 22.04 LTS. A virtual server has up to 4 CPUs, 16 GB main memory and a 200 GB hard disk.
We are happy to offer virtual servers to the institutes of the TUHH. If you are interested in a virtual server on the VMware vSphere system of the RZ, please contact us. Please note that we can only offer virtual servers in large quantities or virtual servers that deviate greatly from the above-mentioned equipment after consultation and only within the scope of the available resources.
If we discover that this restriction is being violated, we reserve the right to shut down the virtual server.
