Instructions to password change

On this page you will find instructions on how to change your password. You need to change it if it is the initial password or because your password is already being used for 180 days. Under these circumstances, you can change your password yourself, online or in a TUHH Windows pool.

If you have forgotten your password, please contact the USC and bring your photo ID. As an alternative you can or contact the USC by email to servicedesk(at)tuhh(dot)de and attach a good legible color scan of both sides and a private email address for correspondence.

You will receive an e-mail in time in advance to your TU-mail in time if you have to change your password.

Change password online

To change your password online, you need an internet connection, but you do not need to be on the campus of the TUHH. You can change your password from any device and even from home.
At the TUHH you can use the Wi-Fi network VPN/WEB, your mobile data or an unused Windows Pool-PC (see below).


  1. Open the following website https://ps.tuhh.de/cgi-bin/info?page=1&lang=en and click on the first item Change your password
  2. Read your hosuse and user regulations.
  3. Scroll down and enter your user ID and current password. Your old, expired, reset or initial password is your Current password.
    Create a new password according to the requirements, enter and conrim it.
  4. Click on change password.

After a replication time of about 10 minutes, you can log in with your new password. If this does not work, please contact us.

If your password has expired, you can also change your password according to the instructions above. Enter the already expired password and change it.

Change password in a Windows-Pool

You can also use one of TUHH’s Windows pools in building A, E, J or L to change your password. Follow these steps:

  1. Log in with the user st@rt without password. This is also indicated by a message text in the background.
  2. You will see the webpage https://ps.tuhh.de/. Click on the first item Change your password.
  3. Read your hosuse and user regulations.
  4. Scroll down and enter your user ID and current password. Your old, expired, reset or initial password is your Current password.
    Create a new password according to the requirements, enter and conrim it.
  5. Click on change password.
  6. Log out.

Deposit your mobile phone number

In order to be able to reset your password independently, you must enter your mobile number.

  1. Choose on the website https://ps.tuhh.de/ the page Deposit your mobile phone number.
  2. Log in with your username and password.
  3. Enter your mobile number and save your change.

Change password independently

In order to be able to reset your password independently, you must have entered your mobile number.

  1. Open the link here and click on Reset password.
  2. Enter your user ID and the mobile phone number you have stored.
  3. Then enter the TAN that was sent to your mobile number and change your password.

Expired passwort

If you have not changed your password in time, you will no longer be able to access TUHH services. However, you can easily change your password according to the instructions above. If you have forgotten your expired password, please contact USC.
For security reasons, the password must be changed every 180 days, old passwords cannot be used again.
If you are on the premises of TUHH and your password has expired, you will no longer be able to use eduroam. You can still change your password via the VPN/WEB.

Resetting passwords for functional / second / third party accounts

In order to be able to reset your password independently, you must have entered your mobile number.

  1. Open the link here and click on Reset the passwords of your service accounts.
  2. Enter your user ID, your password and the username of the functional / second / third party account of yours.
  3. Then enter the TAN that was sent to your mobile number and define your new password.

Problems after password change

If you have problems with external programs (e. g. Windows Mail) or if you can no longer log in to the TUHH pages, please check the following things:

  • After you have changed your password, you have to enter your new password in external programs, like mail programs or password managers.
  • If you are unable to log in to TUHH services with your password, you may have mistyped when entering your new password. If you are using a password manager, find out your actual password and change your password again according to instructions.
  • If you don’t remember your old password or if you typed it, please contact the USC and have your password reset. You will need your photo and student ID. You can also contact the USC via email.
