MazeBot Challenge
Starting in winter term 2019/2020, we ran the Mazebot Challenge in our class Design and Implementation of Software Systems.
Students participating in this class develop a set of software modules in the Java programming language for Lego Mindstorms robots.
These modules are finally leveraged to implement a program that enables the robot to find a colored wall in a maze.
At the end of the term, we invite three groups to present their solutions to their fellow students in a short talk.
Thereafter, the robots compete in a maze unknown to the students. Finally, a public voting is employed to find the best solution based on
- time to find the wall
- elegance of robot movement
- software quality
- complexity and creativity of the solution
- presentation of the solution
The winning team is awarded the Mazebot Trophy and the names of the students are added to the MazeBot Winners List. Both artifacts are displayed permanently in our institute.
