The research vessel "Nekton" is suitable for use in coastal waters and rivers. By means of the available equipment, tasks such as sounding as well as current measurements can be performed in high accuracy and spatial resolution. Due to its dimensions and weight the vessel is very mobile. Within shortest time, a crew of 2-4 persons can carry out the designated measurements. The minimum water depth for the use of the vessel is about 0.60 m, so that the operational area covers shallow coastal waters as well as inland waters with depths up to 300 m. The size of the boat requires, however, that for the launch, a fortified slip or a crane is available.
