JHub4TUHH

During the project, interested TUHH institutes are supported in creating digital interactive teaching materials with Jupyter notebooks and integrating them into their teaching activities. For each course, didactical questions are of importance as well as the technical realisation.

Description

In the scope of the project, interested TUHH institutes are supported in creating digital interactive teaching materials in the form of Jupyter notebooks and integrating them into teaching (lectures, exercises, lecture hall exercises, seminars, etc.). Didactical issues (how do I integrate these teaching materials into the red thread of the course) are of importance as well as the technical realisation in the respective teaching activity. For a fast and smooth use of the teaching materials in a course, the use of a JupyterHub is recommended - a software that each institute installs on their own virtual machine managed by the IT department at TUHH.

The process of installing a JupyterHub is prepared for the interested TUHH institutes to minimize the effort of the scientific staff. Frequently needed adjustments and extensions of the standard installation are managed at a common location across institutes. With the help of a Community of Best Practices, all participants can exchange information and, if necessary, further improve the installation materials. It is also part of the project to identify components required by all institutes, to develop them if necessary and to integrate them into the installation process. Furthermore, it is planned to conduct didactic training on the use of Jupyter notebooks in teaching and hackerspaces for installation.
