Supercritical extraction is industrially established for production of a number of products, such as decaffeinated coffee and hops extract. Investigation on SFE is intensively carried out since more than three decades but still finding new applications and improving already known processes. Various pilot-scale supercritical fluid - solid and – liquid extraction plants are used for tests extractions and process development.
