Process Intensification in Process Engineering

The module "Process intensification in process engineering" consists of the following courses:

  • Process Intensification in Process Engineering (VL - 2 SWS)
  • Process Intensification in Process Engineering (PBL - 2 SWS)

In the lecture "Process Intensification in Process Engineering" the basics for a general understanding of hybrid, integrated and reactive processes in process engineering are laid down and differentiation criteria are discussed. The respective advantages and disadvantages as well as the concept of process windows are discussed. A more in-depth introduction is given by means of process examples from industry and research: partition wall columns, reactive partition wall columns, reactive adsorption and reaction-assisted adsorption, ISPR chromatography and ISPR extraction.

Within the framework of project- or problem-based learning, an introduction to project management is first given. Subsequently, the students are given a task from the field of hybrid processes as a project group, which they have to work on together. Appropriate project management tools must be used.

The module is offered in the following study programs:

  • Verfahrenstechnik (M.Sc.) - Focus: General process engineering, chemical process engineering
  • Bioverfahrenstechnik (M.Sc.) - Focus: General Bioprocess Engineering, Industrial Bioprocess Engineering
