The equipment in our research laboratory enables us to carry out a wide range of standard and special tests, including
- Classification tests:
- Grain size distribution
- Water content
- State variables according to Atterberg for cohesive soils
- Falling cone test
- Density, bulk density
- Loosest and densest state of non-cohesive soils
- Lime content
- Loss on ignition
- Water absorption capacity
- Proctor test
- Angle of repose test
- Permeability tests
- Test to investigate the stress-strain behaviour (stiffness, shear strength, dilatancy):
- Oedometer tests (IL, CRS, VRS), K0 oedometer cell, monotonous/cyclic loading, creep test, Quellversuche
- Direct shear tests, constant normal stress, constant stiffness, monotonous/cyclic loading
- One-dimensional compression and tension tests
- Triaxial tests (CD, CU, UU), monotonous and cyclic loading, Bender Element Test, temperature control and further special tests
- Simple shear tests, monotonous and cyclic loading as well as continuous change of shear direction, also available for unsaturated soils
- Resonant-Column Tests
- Ring shear tests
- Determination of rheological properties with viscometer/rheometer
- Testing of suspensions
- Abrasivity test with abrasimeter
- Physical modelling (model tests):
- 1g model test stand for monopile foundations, monotonous and cyclic loading
- 1g model test stand with control of feed and rotation speed
- 1g model test stand to investigate jet erosion
- 1g model test stand for embankments and dykes
- 1g model test stand for retaining walls
- ng model test stand/centrifuge tests in cooperation with the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems (COFS) at University of Western Australia, Perth
- Field testing, for example.
- Inclinometer measurement, Schwinggeschwindigkeiten
- Measurement of strain, earth pressure, pore water pressure, velocity (geophones), acceleration, …
