Retrofitable Sensor Network Architecture for Predictive Maintenance in Aircraft
The BMWK-funded LuFo V-3 joint project Retrofitable Sensor System Architecture for Predictive Maintenance (ReSA) was launched together with the partners Lufthansa Technik AG, ZAL GmbH and IMST GmbH in August 2018. Based on a wireless communication system, a retrofittable condition-based maintenance (CBM) system for aviation applications is being developed that enables maintenance and replacement of components as needed, thus optimizing aircraft maintenance and repair and minimizing aircraft downtime.
Together with the project partners, TUHH is developing a wireless sensor network based on a highly reliable communication system, taking into account requirements resulting from an intended certification of the overall system. In order to meet reliability requirements, suitable media access procedures and methods for information exchange between the individual layers of the communication systems involved are being developed for this purpose, among other things. The procedures and methods are evaluated and verified by simulation, mathematical models and a test setup.
