Highly integrated planar antennas with electronical beam-forming for mobile satellite communication are developed. Main focus is paid on high functionality and compactness of the antenna system by implementing receiver and transmitter within one device. Using planar printed circuit technology, the antenna is to be integrated inside the outside shell of the aircraft. The current research takes an important part in future crosslinked aviation by reducing especially weight and space requirements.

Additionally, electronical beam-forming leads to significant reduction of maintainence intervals while increasing steering speed and flexibility.
