Abstract: To decarbonize the energy system of the future, shares of renewable energy producers have to be increased and coupling of all energy sectors will be necessary. However, variable renewable energy production also leads to high fluctuations in the power grid resultingin higher vulnerability. Hence, not only the cost efficiencyand sustainabilitybut also the resilience should be one of the objectives of future energy system design. Because resilience is not a physical value, a definition was developed in an earlier work which will be extended and applied to an exemplary integrated energy system. The considered system consists of the power, heat and gas sectors which are coupled by an electrolyzer, a combined heat and power plant with a district heating grid and decentral gas boilers. It is modeled using Modelica which allows for the dynamic simulation of all sectors in one model including all important physical effects. As an exemplary disturbance, thesuddenclosure of one gas pipeline string, is chosen. The entire system'sreaction is simulated and due to the different coupling technologies, the disturbance will cross over to the heat and the power sector. The paper concludeswith a resilience evaluation for each sector using characteristic variables.
