Content of the Course

Revision of vector algebra. Two-and three-dimensional force systems. Supports and bearings, constraints, reactive forces, mechanical system isolation, free-body diagram. Complete and incomplete fixity. Equations of equilibrium in two and three dimensions. Plane and space trusses: member  forces.  Simple structures: frames and  machines. Mass centers and centroids.  Beams and curved-in-plane members: internal forces
