Permanent Post-Doc Position

Post-Doctoral Researcher Position at TUHH (permanent position, German E-14 salary)

The Institute of Embedded Systems at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) invites applications for a permanent post-doc research position.

Research activities focus on design automation techniques for embedded systems, with a particular emphasis on modelling, analysis and optimization of non-functional properties. This covers, e.g., performance, real-time constraints, energy efficiency or dependability. Research topics targeted at TUHH include, but are not limited to, the design of real-time capable multi-tasking and multi-core systems, the design of safe mixed-criticality systems, certification and formal correctness of design tools, or multi-criterial optimization. One key aspect of the institute’s research are compiler techniques for the automated optimization of embedded software regarding the above-mentioned design criteria.

Teaching activities of the Institute of Embedded Systems cover both bachelor- and master-level courses on embedded system design, compilers, computer architecture and technical computer science. The courses will be complemented by seminars and, more importantly, by practical labs where students will gain hands-on experience in software design for cyber-physical systems, hardware design and compiler construction.

As a Post-Doctoral Researcher / Senior Engineer in our institute, you will be directly involved in all research activities described above. Your duties will include

  • supporting the institute head in the organization and implementation of the day-to-day operation of the institute regarding both research and teaching,
  • independently performing demanding research activities in the above-mentioned areas that necessitate senior scientific experience and qualification, and
  • supporting the institute’s scientific staff in all aspects of third-party funded research, with a particular focus on the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG and the EU’s framework programmes.

The teaching obligations of the successful candidate will be 4 hours (SWS) per week.

Applicants are required

  • to have an academic graduation degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or in a closely related field,
  • to have recent and profound professional, scientific experience in the design of embedded systems, shown, e.g., by a strong record of publications,
  • to have a PhD degree with superior score.
