We are excited to share that our Open Access book, A Practical Guide to Understanding and Implementing Challenge-Based Learning, has now been published and is available for download and distribution at the following link: A Practical Guide to Understanding and Implementing Challenge-Based Learning | SpringerLink
This book explores the significant role of challenge-based learning (CBL) in transforming higher education pedagogy, moving towards a model that is both sector-informed and student-driven. It represents over two years of collaborative effort from conception to production. The book includes case studies authored by ECIU staff from institutions such as the University of Stavanger, Hamburg University of Technology [Dr Nadine Stahlberg -Combining Challenge-Based Learning with the Writing of a Master’s Thesis: The Pilot of the ECIU Strategic Challenge; Page 197 - 208, ], Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Linköping, University of Trento, University of Twente, Dublin City University, and Kaunas University of Technology, working closely with their colleagues. Some of these case studies are co-authored by staff from multiple universities, with one even co-authored by former ECIU students [comments by students; page 202 - 203]
Additionally, the book features reflective interviews with teachers, researchers, and students, offering insights into their experiences with contemporary CBL practices.
We hope this book highlights the diverse strengths of our alliance in both pedagogical innovation and CBL research, and that it serves as an inspiring resource for anyone interested in challenge-based learning!
