Research interests

Sara Gehder engages in research within the realm of innovations aimed at advancing the integration of patient-centered digital health applications into healthcare delivery. Her focus centers particularly on the innovative facets associated with the implementation of the Fast-Track Approval Process for Digital Health Applications (DiGA) established under the Digital Healthcare Act in Germany in 2019. Presently, her attention is directed towards broadening the conceptualization of efficacy to demonstrate the positive impact on care – transitioning from a sole emphasis on medical benefits to encompassing improvements in patient-relevant structures and procedures as potential catalysts for inclusion in statutory remuneration.
She aspires to gain a deeper understanding of why only a limited number of DiGA manufacturers have embraced this patient-centered gateway into statutory healthcare and is working on developing solutions to facilitate the future inclusion of more digital health applications with a distinct focus on patients in the provision of care.
