Abstract: Electric road vehicles contain a traction battery which may, depending on the vehicle’s range, exceed a weight of several hundred kilograms. The weight of the battery, in most cases mounted at the car body, will result in a significant influence on the dynamic behavior of the vehicle. For this work two different vehicle models were built up to estimate the accelerations occurring on the battery, focusing on efficient vehicle dynamic models. One model consists of finite rigid body segments, connected by discrete force elements. The other model employs the method of elastic multibody systems to describe the car body flexibility as a continuum. Unknown parameters of both models are estimated using optimization methods and measurement data.
