Process Imaging (PBL)
Subtitle:
This course is part of the module: Process Imaging
Semester:
SoSe 24
Course type:
PBL -Projekt-/problembasierte Lehrveranstaltung (Lehre)
Course number:
lv2724_s24
Lecturer:
Prof. Dr. Alexander Penn, Dr. rer. nat. Stefan Benders, Dr. Maria Raquel Serial, M. Sc, Melis Özdemir
Description:

Content: The module focuses primarily on discussingestablished imaging techniques including (a) optical and infrared imaging, (b)magnetic resonance imaging, (c) X-ray imaging and tomography, and (d)ultrasound imaging and also covers a range of more recent imaging modalities. The students will learn:

 1. whatthese imaging techniques can measure (such as sample density or concentration, material transport, chemical composition, temperature),
 2. howthe measurements work (physical measurement principles, hardware requirements, image reconstruction), and
 3. howto determine the most suited imaging methods for a given problem.

Learning goals: After the successful completion ofthe course, the students shall:

 1. understandthe physical principles and practical aspects of the most common imagingmethods,
 2. beable to assess the pros and cons of these methods with regard to cost, complexity, expected contrasts, spatial and temporal resolution, and based onthis assessment
 3. beable to identify the most suited imaging modality for any specific engineeringchallenge in the field of chemical and bioprocess engineering.
Performance accreditation:
m1702-2021 - Process Imaging

p1654-2021 - Process Imaging: Klausur schriftlich

ECTS credit points:
3
