- Two-dimensional (2D) force systems.: moment of a force about a point, reduction of a system of forces, resultant.
- Three-dimensional (3D) force systems; moment of a force about a point and about an axis, reduction of a system of forces, resultant, wrench.
- Supports and bearings, constraints, reactive forces, mechanical system isolation, free-body diagram. Systems with complete and incomplete fixity.
- Equilibrium in two and three dimensions. Equations of equilibrium.
- Plane trusses: forces in members, the method of joints and the method of sections. Space trusses.
- Simple structures: frames and machines.
- Mass centers and centroids of lines, areas and volumes.
- Friction: dry friction, types of friction problems.
- Beams: internal effects- internal forces. Internal forces in curved-in-plane members.
