Education

Teaching:

Each winter semester, Prof. Dr. Franziska Lissel teaches the modules “General Chemistry I + II” (“Allgemeine Chemie I + II”) and is responsible for the module “Materials Science Laboratory” (“Materialwissenschaftlichen Praktikum”). In the winter semester of 2024/25, she will give the lecture on General and Inorganic Chemistry (“Allgemeine und Anorganische Chemie”).

During the summer semesters, Prof. Dr. Franziska Lissel teaches the module “Organic and Polymeric Materials for the Electronics Industry” (“Organische Funktionsmaterialien für die Elektronikindustrie”) and contributes to the lecture series “Multiscale Materials” (“Multiskalenmaterialien”) within the module “Multiphase Materials” (“Mehrphasige Materialien”), as well as to the lecture series “Material Development for Sustainability” (“Werkstoffentwicklung für die Nachhaltigkeit”) within the module “Modern Materials for Sustainability“ (“Moderne Werkstoffe für die Nachhaltigkeit”).

Starting from the summer semester of 2025, Prof. Dr. Franziska Lissel will assume responsibility for the lecture “Organic Chemistry” (“Organische Chemie”).

Previously, Prof. Dr. Franziska Lissel delivered lectures at the Technical University Dresden as a TU Young Investigator, among other on “Advanced Materials in Organic Electronics”, and contributed to the courses “Advanced Functional Polymers” (“Funktionspolymere II”) and “Synthesis of Polymers” (“Synthese von Polymeren”). From 2020 to 2021, she served as Acting Professor in the Department of Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry of the FSU Jena, and taught courses on “Organic Chemistry” and “Macromolecular Chemistry” for students pursuing B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry, as well as for students enrolled in programs such as Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, and Nutritional Science.

Every semester, the IAPP hosts internships and supervises B.Sc. and M.Sc. theses for students specializing in chemistry, engineering, material sciences, and organic molecular electronics. The IAPP conducts weekly group seminars discuss progress, problems and solutions over tea and cookies.

Outreach:

The IAPP and Prof. Dr. Franziska Lissel are involved in several outreach activities. We regularly host high school pupils, mentor pupils and students, and participate in the Long Night of Science. Among others, we collaborate with the iniative mint:pink. Prof. Dr. Franziska Lissel is speaker of the Female Research Equality (FREQ) network of the Fonds of the German Chemical Industries (“Fonds der Chemischen Industrie”, FCI), that organizes the bi-yearly “Doktorandinnenseminar”, a two-day workshop for female Ph.D. scholars.
