TU Hamburg continues its mission to empower students with future-ready skills by expanding its portfolio of Challenge-Based Learning opportunities through the ECIU University initiative. Lecturers at TUHH are invited to open their courses to students from ECIU partner universities, turning them into interdisciplinary, international learning experiences focused on real-world challenges.
For students, this means the opportunity to actively engage in solving pressing problems alongside peers from across Europe. Courses will be offered in English, aimed at Master-level students, and follow a CBL format that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and practical impact. These challenges are more than academic exercises—they are co-created with external partners such as municipalities, companies, NGOs, or academic collaborators, providing authentic learning contexts and professional insights.
Students participating in ECIU Challenges can earn 1, 3, or 6 ECTS credits, depending on the course design. These learning experiences offer a unique chance to enhance both international and interdisciplinary competencies, preparing students for global careers and societal contribution.
Courses supported in this round will run in the Winter Semester 2025/26 and Summer Semester 2026. The application deadline for lecturers to submit their course proposals is May 20th, 2025. While the call is targeted at teaching staff, students are encouraged to stay tuned for upcoming announcements about which challenges will be available and how to join.
If you are curious, globally minded, and motivated to co-create solutions with others, an ECIU Challenge might be exactly the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
