Best Paper Award for collaborative research of Institute of Air Transportation Systems at TU Hamburg and Institute of Air Transport at DLR

The joint paper "Trajectory-related measures to mitigate the climate impact of aviation: A comparative study" by the DLR Institute of Air Transport and the Institute of Air Transportation Systems at Technische Universität Hamburg has been awarded the 2023 AIAA Aircraft Operations Best Paper Award at the 2023 AIAA Aviation Forum in San Diego, California.

The joint paper "Trajectory-related measures to mitigate the climate impact of aviation: A comparative study" by the DLR Institute of Air Transport and the Institute of Air Transportation Systems at Technische Universität Hamburg has been awarded the 2023 AIAA Aircraft Operations Best Paper Award at the 2023 AIAA Aviation Forum in San Diego, California.

This recognition acknowledges their research evaluating various operational measures to reduce the climate impact of avaition. The work provides important insights for more sustainable aviation and contributes to the discussion on climate compatibility of aviation. The study was performed in the context of the EU Horizon 2020 project ClimOP.

Congratulations to the authors consisting of Zarah Lea Zengerling, Dr Florian Linke, Benjamin Lührs, Christian Martin Weder, and Prof. Dr. Volker Gollnick for their significant contribution! The award was presented at ILA2024 in Berlin by Dr Gabriele Enea from MIT Lincoln Laboratory and chairman of the AIAA Aircraft Operations Technical Committee. We thank the entire Technical Committee for the award and especially Dr Enea for making the extra effort to join us there for this occasion.
