With a long history in laser material processing, the Institute for Laser and Systems Engineering researches and develops additive manufacturing processes. Led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Claus Emmelmann, the institute focuses especially on technology transfer to industry. The Institute of Laser and System Technologies is actively engaged in the following areas:

• Development of bionic 3D printing technologies
• Design and calculation of multifunctional additive components
• Training of engineers and vocational school teachers in the field of metallurgical technology
