The kick-off meeting for the “eCargo” project took place in Berlin on June 7, 2024. This research project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and is being carried out by the Institute for Aircraft Production Technology (IFPT) in cooperation with a number of national and international project partners. These include the network leader 3D.aero GmbH, IT Concepts GmbH and Lödige Industries GmbH on the German side and Espace 2001 S.A. and Köhl Maschinenbau AG on the Luxembourg side.

The aim of the “eCargo” project is to increase efficiency when loading and unloading air freight pallets. The IFPT is working on the development of AI algorithms in order to be able to create an optimized loading strategy in real time, taking into account parameters such as external geometry, weight or load capacity of the individual cargo items.
