Interconnected dynamic systems
Many large-scale and complex systems can be decomposed into a number of smaller, interconnected subsystems. Analysis and controller synthesis are often easier when considering individual subsystems and their interconnection structure instead of the overall system. Examples are distributed cooperative control of multi-agent systems, and distributed control using MEMS-based actuator-sensor arrays.
Research at the ICS is carried out on developing low-complexity analysis and synthesis tools for interconnected systems; in the case of homogenous systems (with identical subsystems) to the complexity corresponding to a single subsystem.
