Mr. Tanmay Kokate
As a civil engineer, I graduated from the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University before starting my master studies in Environmental Engineering at Hamburg University of Technology in 2022. Throughout my academic journey, I have been driven by a deep fascination with the intricate workings of hydrological processes, soil physics, and the environmental and climate-related challenges that we face as a society. It is this fervent interest that led me to initiate my research in the Institute of Geo-Hydroinformatics, where I am studying the impact of microplastics on soil thermal characteristics (e.g., thermal conductivity) and processes. Our laboratory experiments accompanied with physically-based modeling allow us to better understand the impact of microplastics on changing soil thermal regimes and thus evaporative drying of porous media.
